Mark Simmons has been capturing images of Bristol since the early 1980s. His early work featured street scenes and characters from the St Paul's and St Werburgh's areas where he then lived. As Mark developed his hobby into a career, his passion for creating powerful images of ordinary people has been an inspirational theme in his work.

"There's nothing very complicated to my photography. I just generally like people," says Mark. "That's not to say it's easy getting a good picture of someone - it's very difficult - but it's about finding a way to connect with people; being sensitive to their particular character and story."
