in May 2009, Stirling Albion FC became an overnight sensation. The Buy Stirling Albion campaign – an attempt to make Albion Scotland's first 100 per cent supporter-owned club – was launched. Suddenly the club was in the spotlight and on the verge of making history.
As the team chased promotion, behind the scenes the club was in turmoil. Each week fresh crises pushed Albion closer to extinction. Could the campaign raise the funds in time to save the club?
This is the story of that campaign told from two perspectives. Over the course of this book you'll read the views of freelance journalist Tom Bowser and those of the campaign spokesperson, Paul Goodwin. The authors describe the twists and turns of the campaign in detail and intersperse the narrative with match reports and team news. The campaign was successful in 2010 and nobody was more pleased to hear the news than Stirling Albion fan, tennis player Andy Murray who was playing at Wimbledon at the time. Murray contributes the foreword to the book.
